Benchmark results for the Intel Core 2 Duo L9400 can be found below. The data on this chart is gathered from user-submitted Geekbench 6 results from the Geekbench Browser. Geekbench 6 scores are calibrated against a baseline score of 2500 (which is the score of an Intel Core i7-12700). Higher scores are better, with double the score indicating
At the heart of the platform is the 45nm Core 2 Duo processor series, all based on the x86 design previously known as Penryn. It's been beefed up with a 1,066MHz memory or frontside bus (FSB) and
The Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 is a mid-range dual core processor for laptops. It features 2.53 GHz and a shared level 2 cache of 3 MB. Due to the smaller cache (Core 2 Duo T-Models got usually 6 MB

In response to the original poster, no you cannot upgrade to an i3 or above on your current motherboard if you currently have a Core 2 Duo. The Core 2 Duo and Quad processors are on Intel's socket 775 for desktops. The more modern Intel CPU's such as the i3 are on a different socket, the most recent being 1150 for general consumers.
The graphs below demonstrate the difference between TL-60 and Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 (Socket P) most important characteristics. These features, along with an IPC (instructions per cycle) number, determine how well a microprocessor performs. Darker area on the "On-chip cache" graph is for the On-chip L1 cache. Lighter area is for the L2 cache cache.
